Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known professionally as Snoop Dogg, was born in Long Beach, California, and became one of the most influential figures in hip-hop history. Raised in Southern California, he emerged from the West Coast rap scene and developed a distinctive, laid-back delivery that became closely associated with G-funk and gangsta rap. His national breakthrough came through his collaboration with Dr. Dre on “The Chronic” in 1992, followed by the landmark debut album “Doggystyle” in 1993.
Over a career spanning more than three decades, Snoop Dogg has worked with labels including Closed Sessions, Linear Labs, FUTURISTIC SWAGG ENT., 852 Musiq, and Affiliated Records, while maintaining a strong connection to the West Coast sound. His notable releases include “Doggystyle,” “Tha Doggfather,” “R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece,” “Reincarnated,” “Bush,” “Algorithm,” “Follow My Lead,” “The King’s Alpha,” and the collaborative project “Troublez & Snoop.” Major songs from his catalog include “Gin and Juice,” “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?),” “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Beautiful,” and “Young, Wild & Free.”
Snoop has collaborated with artists such as Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem, and many others, demonstrating remarkable versatility across hip-hop, pop, R&B, reggae, and contemporary popular music. His contributions have earned numerous Grammy nominations and widespread international commercial success.
In 2018, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His influence extends beyond music into television, film, sports entertainment, and entrepreneurship. He earned an Emmy nomination for “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner,” received a Primetime Emmy Award in 2022 for “The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show,” and won a Sports Emmy Award in 2025 for his work on NBCUniversal’s coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
